Been to Thermopolis several times, it's our favorite stop on the way to Yellowstone. Theres a lovely park at the end of town; it's a terrific thermal area with all kinds of features and walkways. Also a large hot-spring heated rec pool with slides, etc. Just above town is a great dinosaur museum. You can stay at the Holiday Inn inside the park (there's another, but can't remember who owns it now) and wander the park.

We ended up visiting Thermopolis when a mud slide closed the east gate of Yellowstone and detoured us several hundred miles out of our way.
We spent a fun afternoon here at the one water park. It was small, but warm water (I love that - I have a tendancy to always be cold) and NO lines. And - a HIGH dive - you don't see those much anymore.
We could have occupied ourselves longer here, but we had reservations in Grand Teton for that evening.
