theater reviews in nyc

We will be vistiting the end of April. We already have tickets to Proof. We are interested in seeing one more show on Sunday night and are considereing Fully Committed. We have already seen most of the big musicals. I don't know what web site is available for theater reviews-already read NY Times. Please advise. Also good restaurant before the show. Thanks

Almost every show has a 3pm curtain time on Sunday. There may be a couple that have a 7pm curtain. Check out

nytheater.com and New York post on line.

Fully Commited is very good, but you have to pay close attention to every word! Don' go after a heavy dinner and a lot of drinks.

Fully Committed is quite funny and quite good. I don't know if you have to be as careful (!) as the previous poster said.
It does have a 7 p.m. Sunday performance.
Check out the Playbill website. I believe there is a discount offer for Fully Committed, which will save you some money. If you are not yet a member of the Playbill club, join. It's free and it's not a gimmick. Then you'll be eligible for the discount tickets.
P.S.: Proof is outstanding. With Fully Committed, you've got a great one-day tandem!

Thanks for your comments regarding"Fully Committed. I am going to buy tickets. Could you suggest a good restaurant near the theater for a post or pre dinner on Sun. night? Thanks

2There are several good restaurants literally in the same block as the Cherry Lane Theater, and a couple more around the corner. Right on Barrow between Commerce (where the theater is) and Grove, you'll find Grange Hall, for casual American; Moustache for casual (and inexpensive, but nice atmosphere) Middle Eastern; and a little French bistro, Chez Michallet, which has a pre-theater menu for around $25. Around the corner on Grove is the Pink Teacup, for inexpensive southern-style food, and on the corner of Grove and Bleecker is Grove, a bistro-type place that's good, not great. They're all open on Sunday and are all pretty smll, so I'd make reservations (not sure if you can at Moustache, though). Grange Hall has late hours, too. My first picks would be any of the first three I mentioned on Barrow. All have good food and are less than a block from the theater.

If you really feel like splurging, try La Metairie at the corner of W. 10th & W. 4th Sts. (Yes, those two streets do interect!)

Listen to Howard. He knows whereof he speaks!! We followed his suggestion for La Metarie following a Sunday night show in December and it was great. Not at all inexpensive but a very fine place, although we enjoyed after theatre dining. If I'm not mistaken Fully Committed is short and over before 8:30 so an after theatre dinner would not only be appropriate, but much more relaxing!

Just reread my response and it looks like I was hinting to ignore Caitlin's suggestions. Hers are always good also, but I really liked La Metarie! It's just in a different class, I believe, than the good but less expensive restaurants Caitlin has suggested.
