Theater or show in San Fran
Will be in San Francisco mid-October with
kids ages l0, l3, l6 and l7. Am looking
for a fun show or theater. Anyone have
any ideas. I don't want it to "kiddie".
Saw Blue Man Group in Chicago and that
was great. Anything like that?

Definitely go to Beach Blanket Babylon. It is a local show that has been running for about 25 years. It is a musical but very funny, a little bit of raunch, but I don't remember anything that would be inappropriate for a 10 yr ols (help me out anyone if you remember something different). It is very unusual and very unique to San Francisco. Be sure to buy tickets in advance!

Hi Jean,
I saw Beach Blanket Babylon when I was in SF three years. I loved it. I think some of the jokes would probably go over the heads of your younger kids, or maybe they wouldn't, depending on how advanced they are, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate in taking them.

Jean- The show is great for your kids (mine are 14 and 12 and they loved it) One warning though... Club Fugazi will only allow under 21 kids to the Sunday 3pm Matinee... It has nothing to do with show content, it is required by the City laws on serving Alcohol. The theme of the comedy musical is Snow White searching the world for love.
We got front Cabaret seating for $38 a seat and the show was great! People start to line up outside two hours early for front stage seats, but the theatre is small and there are few bad seats. This is a must-see part of your SF vacation!

Agree with Beach Blanket Babylon--fun for all ages! Go to www.beachblanketbabylon.com for info and an explanation of the show. After the show, have dinner at a small Italian restaurant in North Beach. Osteria del Forno would be our choice. Be sure to book ahead for the 3pm Sunday show.
