The Ultimate Beach Hotel in Kauai

Which hotel on Kauai has the best beach right outside the hotel room door?

How is the beach at the Princeville Resort? I was told the Hyatt does not really have a swimming beach. Is that correct?

I am looking for the ultimate beach. Any tips?

The best beaches in Kauai thankfully don't have hotels on them. I've never been to the beach at the Princeville Hotel. Some say it is nice, others say it is so-so. The beach at the Kiahuna Plantation and the Sheraton is very nice though. The beach at the Hyatt is great for surfing and boogie boarding, and beachcombing, but not for swimming.

Have you looked at the layout of the
Princeville?
The beach is not right outside the door.

Pay for an oceanfront room at the Sheraton.

You have to pack a lunch and make like Donkey Kong to get to the beach at The P'ville. (A few elevator transfers)

Yeahhhhwhat Suuuuuzie said.
Very good beach esp if it's what watching time.

The Hyatt does not have a swimmable beach. The Princeville has a small one right next to the pool so not really far, per se....

I love the Hyatt--great pools, one salt water. The Princeville is upscale and the views are stunning!!!!!!! Best in Kauai.

The Hyatt Beach (Shipwreck Beach) is very disappointing if you are a beach person. It is unswimmable because it is too rough. So they Hyatt built a great big pool complex. Great for kids, but I don't think it makes up for having a bad beach.

The Sheraton has a very small pie-shaped part of Poipu Beach. Poipu is very croweded, and I thought the snorkeling was terrible- murky, too many people in the water walking all over stuff. It's OK, but you'll never find yourself deserted on it. Princeville Hotel has a smaller beach and the snorkeling is great. All in all, I'd chose Princeville because of the lush tropical feel.

Good question boovt!

I have only visited Kauai once during winter, the week before Christmas. I spent the week visiting just about every beach on the island, and most were unswimmable. May have just been the surf that week, who knows. But wave watching was amazing. And watching big surf riders at polihale was amazing.

Surf to me is very unpredictable. The winter surf was huge. Then again, in the summer 2 years in a row, swimming at Gillians past Poipu was way too dangerous, yet the first time I visited in early June many years ago, I snorkled there.

Anything can happen in the middle of the pacific.

Forget a hotel. Get an oceanfront condo at Kiahuna Plantation. You will have to walk across a lovely lawn to get to the actual beach, but it is very nice and they have boogie boards and everything you could want. You won't have to go out for breakfast, just pick up some stuff from the shopping center nearby and enjoy fresh fruit and coffee and whatever on your deck. You also have room to spread out...bedroom, living room, kitchen. And, usually, a DVD or video player with DVD or tapes left there by the owners.
