Have you looked thru the archived posts about this yet? It's been reviewed lots of times.
Bottom line is, it's not one of the premier places in town, and the other Hiltons are usually higher rated (Tapatio, South Mountain).
But if you're getting some kind of cut rate deal, that has to be factored in as well.
Any reason you've chosen this place in particular? Phoenix has some really outstanding resorts (though pricey in Dec. Not really great pool weather usually, either. Temps in the 60's late in the month).

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I've read through and seen what was written. We have researched the area and this place had so much for our kids (with the river ranch and so on) Being that we will be there for so many days, we wanted a place that had a lot to do. I was hoping someone could post more details about the pro's and con's of this place. Not many people seem to like this place and from the brochures we've seen it looks like a very nice place. Care to give us your insight. Are there good places to eat nearby? Is the river ranch a great place for the kids? Thanks again

I don't know if I would book a hotel for December just based on the water activities available.
Temperatures in Phoenix can be OK for swimming in December, but when it's 60 degrees with low humidity (very common), it doesn't usually entice people into the water here.

I've stayed at Squa Peak as well as Tapatio cliffs. In all honesty I did not find much of a difference. Granted there was a 5 year span between my stays and Tapatio may have been renovated since. The guest rooms were the same decor/size, etc. Tapatio has a golf course, Squaw Peak does not, the river park at Squaw was great for kids, the pool was huge and I think there may have been miniature golf on site at Squaw. Tapatio has a great restaurant with a beautiful view. But someplace you probably will not be dinining with a 12 and 15 year old. I used to work for Hilton and enjoyed my stays at both. I think your selection is fine. I really do not understand the other postings re: Squaw Peak either. Granted neither resort is the Phonecian or the Biltmore, but for what they are, I think both made for great vacations!

Even though the rooms are rundown and the river ranch is often littered with beer cans, etc., you will be a hero with your kids if your stay at Squaw Peak. Kids love the huge pool scene.
But a couple of nights there is more than enough, given all the negatives.
For a longer stay, choose another resort.

I keep seeing the bad remarks on both Pointe Tapatio and Squaw Peak and am so surprised...I think, generally, locally, the hotels are quite well thought of and used by locals for entertainment and dining. I have not stayed in the rooms, although our cousin from Scotland did last winter and his room reminded me exactly of a Inn Suites, Embassy Suites type of accommodation, little living room, couch/bed, separate bedroom, etc...two tvs....pool area definitely looks best at Squaw Peak, although only tourists swim in winter and seem to love it. You'll be fine, safe and when you are here you can look around and see if there is anywhere else you'd rather be for the price. I think Squaw Peak also has stables. Granted, they are not The Phoenician, but you are paying far less.
