The Carriage House, Las Vegas

Has anyone ever stayed here? I have a studio for April 2002 on hold until 12 noon tomorrow (UK time). Would be glad of any info.

Been to Vegas 20+ times.
Have never heard of the Carriage House.
What is it and why did you choose it over a surefire property like one of the strip hotels?
(I know, I know, your booking agent recommended it, right?)

As a general rule, I would avoid any hotel that isn't at least listed in the Fodor's guide for that city. Check there firt.

There are so many nice hotels right on the strip, some at moderate prices that you really ought to think about a name hotel.

Besides, part of the fun in Vegas is staying in a tacky-theme hotel!

The other alternative is that this is a yet to be completed new property, hence the lack of name recognition.

Ann,
I take back what I said. Out of curiousity I looked at their website. The hotel looks fine from the photos..

I'm now recalling its location. It is set a little back from the Strip down near MGM and basically across from the Monte Carlo. There are several restaurants and, i think, the Harley Davidson Cafe nearby.

It is in a decent location and not the rundown (circus, circus) end of the strip.

It doesn't have a casino. I think a few hotels in the area may have gambling (but I'm not sure.)

Have fun!

Thanks for your replies. I have booked through a timeshare exchange company (Interval International). I too looked at the website for the Carriage House and it looked acceptable. I have until tomorrow to confirm the exchange. It's our first visit to Vegas so have no idea what to expect with regard to hotels/locations although have been led to believe that there is quite a variety of hotel accommodation all mingled together. Just thought (hoped) somebody else might have known of it or stayed there. Looking for the comfort factor!

I HAVE BEEN TO LV 10 TIMES, two times a year for bus. On business you are around the city a lot. i have never heard of this hotel. The thing about LV is if you are far from the action, you will be very upset and it will ruin the vaca.

Try to stay near the strip. MIRAGE HOTEL, CASEARS HOTEL, ALLADIN, PARIS, BELLAGIO, VENETAIn, FLAMINGO.

These are all hotels to look in to. PLEASE try to stay near the strip or you will be sorry.

Ann, I have to say that for me, a big part of the fun of Las Vegas is staying in the theme hotels. Places like Monte Carlo and Luxor and Paris aren't typically overly pricey, but they do add to the fun.
I've stayed at business oriented hotels 3-4 blocks off the strip and it really doesn't feel the same.
Just my opinion. But if you're coming all the way to LV from UK, I'd definitely make the most of the Vegas experience. I fear you won't enjoy it as much if you stay in a timeshare, but everyone vacations differently, I suppose.
