The ANA Hotel in SanFrancisco

I am considering staying at this hotel for our trip to San Francisco in August. It is our first time to this city and would like to stay somewhere nice. This hotel is across from the Moscone Centre on 3rd Street and used to be called The Meridien (few years ago).
Does anyone know of this hotel and have any opinions??
Thanks for your help!!!

ANA is your standard stylish convention hotel, much like ones you may stay at anywhere in the western world. It's great if you are tied to business, close to Moscone, convention parties, rubbing elbows with fellow conventioneers. If you want a true SF experience, stay at one of the smaller hotels closer Union Square. Try the Triton for whimsy, Juliana for Pollyana-ish, The Clift for traditional. Or on Nob Hill, Fairmount for historical.
