VT, it was so much fun.
Ozarksbill, I really thought the lobster roll at Bayley's was the best of all the ones we had. Your family gathering sounds fun!
So really, that was the end of the report. On Sunday morning DH and I made the drive back to Boston, which went quite smoothly. Dropped the car, hung out at the airport, took the direct flight home, where we disembarked to 91 degrees and humid. Should have changed to shorts before getting on the plane! Jeans were killing me.
We had a wonderful time and made some new memories. Thanks for riding along for a bit.

Thanks for the great play-by-play, Toucan2. I keep hearing it in your voice.
Vttraveler, it's funny you mention the Brewster store. My husband was wearing their T shirt (Got coffee?) during the get-together in Vermont. Our daughter worked at the Brewster store one summer. And at the get-together we were talking about how much more touristy that one is than Dan and Whit's.

I agree the Brewster store is very touristy--but fun. My husband bought a small lobster-motif ceramic container for melting butter over boiling water. Very useful.
The Preservation Trust of VT lists some country stores we like including the ones in Castleton and Greensboro

There was a lot of concern when the store in Barnard established in 1832 was "threatened with permanent closure" but it has remained open under new management.

I hope those of you hearing this in my voice are finding it a pleasant experience!
That is so interesting about Diana, Liz. I will have to look for it next time I'm in Philadelphia. I like being able to make these new connections. I mentioned the Shaw Memorial in Boston to my sister, and while aware of the scuplture, she wasn't aware of Saint-Gaudens either.
vt, that's great that the Barnard store remains open.

Nice report, toucan. You just visited two of my favorite states.
And thanks for the tidbit about the elevator in the Wyeth Center. I was there last year and was very impressed with its size and grandeur, but I didn't know the story behind it.
