Thanksgiving in the Keys

We will be staying at our vacation rental property in Islamorada. We'd like to get out and do as much as we can while there. My question is, can anyone speak to what we should expect as far as business closures? Also, is there anywhere that we can reserve a fresh turkey? A local butcher shop, perhaps?

Thanks, and take care.

pappy, you may have to stop an get your turkey in either Florida City or Homestead.

I can't think of any large grocery stores in Islamorada. Key Largo may also have something.

I don't know if you're planning on heading down to Key West, but Thanksgiving Day is the start of the Pirates in Paradise festival there. It looks like it's going to be a fun weekend. (also continues the next weekend)

What is Pirates in Paradise all about? Is it worth the 2.5 hour trip one way?

Pappy, I honestly don't know if it's worth a trip or not. I didn't know about it until I saw something about it on a Key West web site. Here's the URL, but it really doesn't give a lot of information. I went to some of the web sites of the musicians who will be there, sounds like most of them go to a lot of resaissance festivals.
