Thanksgiving Getaway

We decided that this is the year finally that we don't stress out about Thanksgiving cooking, cleaning and company. And we'd like to take a mini vacation. We live in the NYC metro area so can easily fly, or are ok with a drive 4/5 hrs from the city. We are sight seers so some were with a history, we are also a "pre teen" so somewhere with some activity. I know its a tough one... but your a tough crowd so I look forward to your responses. Budget variable- open to all price range, except camping!!

St. Augustine, Florida is nice during Thanksgiving. It has lots of history, is a beautiful city and is close to beaches and Disney.

Quebec City (Fairmont is a perfect location for exploring)

My wife and I spent last Thanksgiving in Cocoa Beach Florida (about one hour drive south of Datona). We had a great time. It is close to the Kennedy Space center (the tour is fabulous),one hour drive to Orlando or Daytona and there was a very nice drive thru Christmas light display nearby. Plenty of restaurants with Thanksgiving menus. The Cocoa Beach Pier is small but nice views of the volleyball players and surfers. If you are interested, there are several casino boats that will take you out for a nice evening, even if you don't gamble. They will pick you up at your hotel or wherever you are staying.
It was one of our most enjoyable vacations.

We were near Flagler Florida for Thanksgiving a few years ago. It's in between St Augustine and Daytona.

We were there to pack a house we were going to sell.

Be careful for Thanksgiving Day and have a plan. We headed in to Daytona Beach for dinner. Everything was closed.

Our families and many others ended up having chicken wings at Hooters for our Thanksgiving Dinner. We still laugh about it.

I never thought I'd be in a Hooters.
The Thanksgiving that never ended. We had one last load of laundry to do at the house and the dryer caught fire.
House fine, but glad to end that holiday.
