Thanksgiving Dinner in NYC
Our family will be in NYC from southern California for Thanksgiving week. We're looking for either a nice restaurant with a traditional Thanksgiving feast and a special ambiance or possibly a take out place where you can pick up the whole meal and take it back to your apartment. For the restaurant I'm imaging between $50-$75 per person, but maybe New York is more expensive. For take out, we have places like Whole Foods that do a pretty good job, although you still have to usually cook the turkey for a few hours. We'll be staying in the West Village. Thanks for your suggestions

Here are a few places from last year, which I would imgaine would continue the tradition this year.
The Cookshop really knows what is doing and that would be my first choice in your price range from this lost, even though I have not had their Thanksgiving meal.

We have Whole Foods as well. But there are hundreds of restaurants that offer a dinner in this price range. I've been to Artisanal several times. Last year I went to Bar Americain, but neither is in the Village. There are p,entry of places down there.

Cornelia St. Cafe, Good, One if by Land, and the Harrison are some of the village restaurants that have served T'giving dinners in previous years at around the price you quote. 10 Downing and Perilla are very good places that might do a nice job too.
There are also loads of midtown options whether the Bryant Park Cafe overlooking the park and the ice rink there or the Park Room in the Park Lane hotel that has a buffet from noon to 6. (I wouldn't go there too late). http://www.helmsleyparklane.com/bpdo...uffet_2010.pdf
For takeout, Trader Joe's, Zabar's, Fairway, Grace's Market and Citarella are other options besides Whole Foods with very good food. In Oct. Opentable.com will have a full list of restaurants that will be open.

I just noticed the Boat House in Central Park has a very nice menu. http://www.thecentralparkboathouse.c...ing_upto8_.htm This is a gorgeous spot if you go during daylight hours.
