Thanksgiving dinner in N.Y.C

I am looking for suggestions for a fun place to have Thanksgiving dinner. This is our first visit to New York City and we hoped to do something memorable.

We had dinner in Tavern on the Green for Thanksgiving one year and that was lovely and the food wasn't bad either It was a memorable night, the lights on the trees outside, the beauty of the restaurant, then after dinner you can walk it off by strolling down Columbus Avenue..C

Lisa: Most of the traditional Thanksgiving restaurants like Tavern on the Green, Fraunces Tavern, Palm Court at the Plaza, etc. I'm sure have been booked for weeks. Had TG dinner at the View atop the Marriott Marquis several years ago and it's fun revolving through dinner, but I would recommend you make reservations today regardless where you decide to eat.

Lisa,
What price range are you thinking about?

Lisa, I've done Thanksgiving dinner with family at both Tavern on the Green and Foleys Fish House [3rd floor of Renaissance Hotel with great view of Times Square] and both were really nice experiences. The Foley's dinner was spent with out of state relatives and they loved the whole experience.

We will be in NY for Thanksgiving also, and someone on this board recommended the Sea Grill restaurant at Rockefeller Center. I've done some further investigation and it looks like an excellent choice. The dining room overlooks the ice skating rink at Rockefeller Center... the food is well-respected, has gotten excellent reviews everywhere. They are doing a $55 fixed price menu, with a few favorites from their regular menu included (crab cakes, etc.) Check out the link below. http://www.restaurantassociates.com/theseagrill/

The other advice I have for you regarding Tavern on the Green -- it's only worth doing if you can sit in the Crystal Room, in my opinion... and I doubt you will be able to do that at this late date unless you pay a surcharge.
