I wanted to thank all of you for your input/suggestions for a surprise October Hawaii trip. Going to stay 5 nights at Aston Kaanapali Villas on Maui, then 5 nights at Aston Poipu Kai condos on Kauai in October.I'll certainly stay tuned to keep up on the things to do! Hey Kal-I come up with 231 days left!!! Can't wait-surprising my wife. 25th anniv., and she has no clue at this point. Should be a fun trip!!!

Great surprise. But how do you keep this surprise? Don't you have credit card statements, reservation confirmations and other clues that help your spouse figure out your surprise? Please share it with me. I would like to surprise my wife with a trip to Alaska but how do you surprise your spouse if you never kept any secrets from her? Also how long do you keep it secret? Until departure day?

Here's what I did: I got a credit card in just my name, and had them e-bill me to my e-mail address!! Keeps the paper statements from going to the house. The only way it will pop up is if we/she needs to run a credit report for some reason. If that happens, I'll tell her then! I started planning this trip last July by asking the fodorites all kinds of questions. I reserved both the condos on Maui & Kauai, as well as airfare, on new card. I've been saving my own cash to make the payments. So far, it's worked real well. I also sent away for travel info and had it sent to work, where I keep the info and confirmation numbers, driving directions, etc. under lock & key in a file cabinet. We've never kept secrets either, except for the surprise trip to Colorado for our 20th. Only our kids know about it, and they promised not to tell!! So far so good. I'm planning on telling her at our daughters wedding reception 2 weeks before we leave. I have already arranged for both her & I to have the time off from our jobs too. Good luck with your surprise!!
