Thai restaurants in Chicago

I'm looking for an upscale Thai (or Asian) restaurant in Chicago. Does anyone know of such a place and have personal experience with it? Or can anyone direct me to online reviews? This is for an anniversary dinner, so I want it to be as "nice" and "good" as possible and am not concerned with the cost.

mswiley,
Aruns on Kedzie AVe on the North side of Chicago is exactly what you are lookin for..I believe it a prix fix menu and the owner/chef will prepare different courses every day..Arun's is VERY pricey but since cost is not an object..I highly recommend this restuarant..you can go on www.metromix.com to find out more..

hope this helps!

your in the right city there are Thai places all over.

Here are some suggestions:

Up-Up scale
Arun's - one of the best Thai places in the city, has an 11 course meal for about 100 bucks per person. - the only thing is that this place in in an unusual location - way off the beaten path for a tourist( kedzie and Irving)

Check the www.chicagoreader.com and click on resturants on the left hand side - there is a very good search engine to help with

There are so many other Thai places but most of them are casual.
I like Opart Thai house in linclon Square.
Always Thai on Irving park
Satay on Diversey is pretty good
But these are casual

If you are looking for fine dining with Thai Asian influnces(but not flat out Thai) then OPERA in the south loop would be a very good choice.

Your best source for reviews are:
www.chicagoreader.com
www.metromix.com
www.zagat.com(you have to pay for this one)

Thank you! Arun's looks excellent. I appreciate the casual suggestions, too. We are Thai food nuts and could eat it for every meal, so I'm glad to have other options. Thanks for the review sites also!

There's another high-end Thai restaurant, run by a former Arun's chef, that's a little bit more accessible--Erawan in the 700 Block of N. Clark.

I haven't been personally, but hear it's good, and it won't be as difficult to get to or include the pricy cab ride to Arun's.

Hope this helps,
Racy
