Texas Hill Country Wineries

Looking at visiting Fredericksburg in April after Easter Sunday. Looking at visiting a few wineries. Any tips on favorites to visit or good eateries around area. Will be there only for 3 days so do not want to spend a lot time checking out alllll of the wineries.
Thanks

Becker Vineyards is a good one! http://www.beckervineyards.com/

Don't forget to stop off in Luckenbach for a beer or two! It's where I got married!

Altdorf's Biergarten has great German food. The Fredericksberg Brewery, on the main drag, has some good eats, too. Enjoy!

I've never been to Becker Vineyards, I'll have to check that out. I live near the Hill Country and we always make at least one drive to F'burg in the spring. April is a perfect time to be in Central TX, rphsims1.

We haven't driven the Texas Hill Country wine trail yet but it's something I really want to do and would love to hear about your experience when you return.

This website may help you.

Two of our Austin friends took us to Becker Vineyards a year or so ago. We really enjoyed it, and the wines were pretty good.

We love Altdorf's. I thinks it's Oma's sandwich on rye we have each time. Sooo good, as is their house beer.

Becker is my favorite too.

Also, I enjoy grabbing a drink and appetizer at Lincoln Street Wine Bar.

Altdorf's is good, but beware the "German potato salad". It is NOT fresh, it comes from a can. But their weinershnitzel...OHMYGOSH!!! Yummy!!!

And though I haven't been to the vineyard, if you're on Main Street, stop in at the Fredericksburg Winery. It is on the edge of the main drag. For a very reasonable price, you can get a flight consisting of up to five wines. And the winemakers were very entertaining in explaining the differences, etc. They have a wonderful orange muscat. If you like dessert wines, you should not miss taking a bottle of that muscat home!

No wonder you're asking about Lincoln Street wine Bar...what an awful website! Yes, it is in Fredericksburg. It's at the corner of Lincoln and Main Street, a couple of blocks from the Adm. Nimitz Museum.

Thanks, AustinTraveler, that will work out fine--we are staying at Inn on the Creek across from Museum. Have you tried out Texas Hills Vineyard or the Torre de Pietra vineyards.

Report back and tell me what you thought of the ones you visited!!
