Tex-Mex on the Riverwalk
I'll be visiting San Antonio May 1-4 and spending three nights down by the River. Any recommendations on where to go for Mexican food? I'm talking about the basics here (tamales, rellenos, enchiladas, etc. - NOT gourmet, Mexican-inspired, or Southwestern cuisine.

Our favorite is Casa Rio . . it is an authentic Mexican Restaurant that was operating before the RiverWalk was the RiverWalk.

Thanks. I can always count on the people who participate in this forum to provide good advice! I checked out the menu and it looks like the real deal.
There is most likely a Texas-size rib-eye or cut of prime rib in my future while I'm there. Any suggestions?

A woman at our hotel recommended Acenar, and we couldn't get enough of the place. We ate there three times. Everything was delicious, and I recall especially enjoying the Chile Rellenos. The atmosphere is pleasing and the prices are reasonable. Check out the menu. If the Casa Rio menu is your idea of heaven, you may not be attracted to what Acenar offers. However, if you order Acenar's Chile Rellenos, you will probably come back here and thank me for steering you in the right direction.
