Telluride lodging

We would like to stay in Telluride in July. What would you recommend for a nice, upscale condo, b&b or hotel, hopefully with an outside area. Is anyone familiar with Lulu City condos or the Wildwood Canyon Inn?
Thanks,
Shaynak

I don't know either of these specific places. Keep in mind that condo's are individually owned, and thus each one is different. The Wildwood Canyon appears to be right on the main street, which will have lots of car traffic.

What do you mean "outdoor space"? A balcony/patio directly part of the specific unit or for the entire complex?

There are lots more condos that rent in Mountain Village, which is just above the town of Telluride. You take the free gondola down into town, it is like a swiss ski village and very nice.

Also, be aware that summers in Telluride are very busy. There are weekend festivals every weekend but one and that the rates go up a lot on weekends as a result. Also, the town gets packed, especially for some of the more major fesitivals. Also, on the major festival weekends, there are minimum stays.

If you want to enjoy Telluride, try to stay mid-week.

We like to stay at the Victorian Inn which is just a short walk from the gondola base. It has the most reasonable prices in town and is nice, clean and comfortable.

I have a home close to Telluride and would be happy to answer any specific questions you might have and I have a lot of posts on Chow.com for restaurants. Same name.

we were just up skiing in Telluride..what a great place!
I like it so much more than Aspen but I do like Vail/Beaver Creek.
We always stay at our friends condo with ski in ski out and there are many great affordable condos for cheaper than a hotel.

We always stay at the Mountain Village complex, where the newer condos etc with ski-in/ski-out are located. Sounds like what ksucat recommended. You can take the free gondola ride down into town any time you wish. Great views, spacious rooms with cooking facilities etc.

Can't remember the names of the two places we liked, can look it up if you are interested.

http://www.skitelluride.travel/about...in-village.htm ... the photo shows the town of Telluride in the valley on the left and the Mountain Village on the hillside to the right of the photo.

Elevation is pretty high, ~9,500 ft ... we always get throbbing high altitude sickness headaches the first night unless we stay one night at about 6,000 ft first. YMMV.
