Telluride anyone??
Thinking og going to Telluride in March. Can anyone give me any info on where to stay (there are 2 towns?) places to eat. How are the conditions? How many trails are there? Is it worth the trip?
Any help with any info would be appreciated.

Hi Jeff
This may seem like a stupid response but if nothing else it will lift your post to the top of the thread
go to www.epicski.com GREAT SKI WEBSITE.
ski bums from all over the country will come up to give you feedback.
also wolfgang puck just did a holiday special on the foodnetwork in Telluride he said he goes there every year it reminds him of Austria. Why not check out the foodnetwork website for links on where he goes on the mountain. That would tip me off of to better ski areas in the region.
Woosh see you on the slopes!!! I have one boot in Vermont, 2 NEW ATOMIC skies and one boot in Manhattan. SNOW EVERYWHERE and I have to wait for my next 6 hour road trip to reunite my equipment!!!

Telluride is one of the samller "major" ski areas (1700 acres) in Colorado, and a little more difficult to get to than the areas near Denver. The Telluride airport is described as "weather plagued"; there are flights from Denver and Phoenix. Montrose, a larger airport, is 65 miles away.
The base is 8700 feet, and the peak 12,200. it has excellent skking at all ability levels.

We stayed with kids in the Mountain Village at La Chamonix - walking distance to lifts and ski school. Very neat place to stay and convenient. There is a gondola that takes you up and down between the town of telluride and the mountain village. DH stayed and skied there in the mid-70's and boy, has it changed!!! Downtown is more upscale now but still retains the cowboy charm - more expensive obviously but good nightlife, not so chi-chi as Vail or Aspen. We flew into Telluride with no problems - lots of trails but don't expect a lot of beginner stuff - more intermediate to advanced. Loved it!
