Tell me about Tupelo
A new customer is in Tupelo, which means I will be visiting there in November. This is one place I know nothing about and although I will only be with my customer for one day I actually have to fly into Memphis the day before. Any good places to eat or stay? OR do in an afternoon or evening?

Tupelo is the birthplace of Elvis Presley. There is a museum which includes the actual birthplace home & Chapel and a self-driving tour of Elvis-related sites (museum will have the map). Can't comment on hotels or restaurants because we were there in one afternoon.

Since you are flying into Memphis you will have an easy 90 minute drive to Tupelo. The population of Tupelo is around 36,000 but it is considered a regional hub and around 120,000 work in Tupelo every day.
I recommend staying at either the Courtyard by Marriott or the new Holiday Inn Express. Tupelo has several fast food and casual chain restaurants but I recommend Harveys (salads, pasta, steaks, fish, etc.), Vanellis for Greek/Italian, Malones for fried catfish, and Barbeque by Jim.
Besides Elvis' birthplace, Tupelo also has a new automobile museum, a buffalo park/zoo, and two movie theaters with several screens. There are also plenty of stores to shop at in and around the Barnes Crossing Mall.
On the 2nd weekend of every month there is a large flea market and being close to Christmas it is open 11/12-11/14th & 11/26-11/28. There are also a few antique stores scattered around town.
You can find out a lot of information at http://www.tupelo.net When I looked earlier it listed Disney on Ice's Beauty and the Beast from 11/4-11/7, a Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on 11/6, Gloria Loring 11/9, and the Gaither Homecoming on 11/18.
I hope you enjoy your visit.
