Tech question

For years I have been reading Fodors.com at work (a school) For some reason, this year I can't get to this site and my computer "freezes" and I have to reboot. Any suggestions to get me back on fodors -- I'm having serious withdrawl! (I'm on a lan network with a T whatever connection, my computer person at school says perhaps the site's gotten too big or too "busy" to access...)

Has your employer installed software to limit where you can go in cyberspace? Many have done this because, while a certain limited personal use is acceptable (sort of like occasional personal calls on a business phone or making the occasional photocopy of a recipe), they don't want everyone surfing freely and tieing up system resources.

I would suspect that there is a filter on your server at school. Since many immature posters put banned words on this board, your school's server is restricting access.

Would a filter mean that all the computers on the network couldn't access Fodors? For the first couple of weeks of school, I could get on using a student computer in the lab, but not the designated teacher computer. Now I can't get on either.

We do have software which filters certain sites, but we've always had it and I always could get to Fodors before.

Thanks for your expertise!

Why did you even mention that? You obviously are using this site from somewhere else and know that is not the case.

What do you teach - study hall?

Teacher,
Did this just start during the SCHOOL year (i.e., in September)? That's when Fodors started putting their ads on the forum, and perhaps they're causing your system to hiccup (either a filter, or your system just can't handle the Javascript involved).
Just a thought.
