Tampa shopping takes a giant step forward!

My husband was given a tour of the new International Mall, yesterday, scheduled to open near the airport September 14. They will be running shuttles to the airport for those who want to work in a little last minute shopping before returning home.

For any who still have a few pennies left after these market gyrations, the anchor stores which are new to the area will be Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Lord and Taylor. Some of the other stores, NOT the usual mall "stuff", are: St. John, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Charles Jourdan, Stuart Weitzman, Coach, Cole Haan, Nicole Miller, Via Spaga, Betsey Johnson, Crane, Caswell Massey, Rand McNally, Tiffany, Tumi, Pea in a Pod, Bose, and Build a Bear Workshop (cute concept...you build your own, choose size, fur type, add heart, add recorded message etc). Also, Cheesecake Factory, CA Pizza, Kahuna's, as well as a couple other restaurants, one of which has a circular stairway going up through a tubular wine cellar. You choose your dinner wine on the way up the stairs.

Nordstrom is running a personal shopping service for some of the hotels. You have a need when you arrive, they'll get it and deliver it to the hotel.

This is a *giant* step forward in shopping for this area and I'm getting my old Neimans card all polished up in anticipation! ;>

Olive, this mall does sound very nice indeed! Congrats to the Tampa area. Be careful, though...that Needless Markup (Neimans) bill can get high quickly!

apc, Me too, and I'll be there too. You'll recognize me by the glazed grin of an addict who has just gotten her fix. gt;

John, the Neimans CEO is staying in our hotel for two days for the event. My dh writes welcome notes to any VIPs who are "in the house" and for him, he's doing a short one and having me add mine. It'll be 16 pages long. gt; LOL 17 years living in Dallas taught me the fine points of power shopping.

OO and apc-

I want a complete report on Nordstrom's--my kids start school the day of the sneak preview and there's too much to do to get away. I didn't even try to convince my third grader that he wouldn't miss me at the BTS lunch!

We ladies south of Tampa are brushing the dust off the credit cards that you only need register once on those oh so popular web sites!

See you soon. I'll be the one with smoke pluming out of my wallet!!!!

Yes Sal, we all must do our patriotic duty and pump up the economy. Heaven forbid income growth ever outpace spending again!! Is that money burning a hole in your wallet? Well, get it out of there--we'll help if need be! A trip report on Nordstroms will be forthcoming. Don't go buying any shoes 'tween now and then.

As for me, I miss those 3rd grade luncheons. ;> Savor it. Don't know about you, but I always hated to see the school year begin again.

My biggest concern for this mall is that our population won't be able to support it, so we need all you South of Tampa ladies. Come on up...come over for lunch, smoking wallets are most welcome. gt;
