Tampa, FL lodging?
Does anyone know of a great hotel, motel, or B&B for families in the Tampa area?
We will be traveling with 2 small children and will need accommodations for a week.
Another factor, it has to be cheap, cheap, cheap....
Also, any must see or do things for kids in the area?
Thanks!

"GREAT" but "cheap, cheap, cheap".
Sorry, romccoy, but surely you know that you get what you pay for. It's fine to look for cheap accomodations, but surely you don't expect them to be "great" at the same time?
For the record, what do you call "cheap, cheap, cheap" and when are you going?
Have you considered renting an apartment for a week?

Check out www.vrbo.com, by clicking on Florida, then to Tampa area. There are two bedroom condos on the beach at Clearwater or St. Pete Beach and others for around $700 to $900 a week (after mid April). Even a one bedroom could work for you (still a better alternative than a single hotel room), and you'll have a kitchen as well.
There are places cheaper than that away from the beach. Lots of looking to do.
I'm not sure about $50 - $70, nor am I sure what the current taxes are on hotels in the area as opposed to taxes on an apartment rental, but often there is some more savings there on the apartments.

I agree with NeoPatrick. Look for something on vrbo.com. Otherwise, you might try the Embassy Suites. They are usually around $120 per night but that includes a made to order breakfast and a nice cocktail hour with snacks. If you are trying to save money, another option would be Sailport Suites or Chase Suites, both have a fully equipped kitchen, which would reduce your meal costs by cooking your own meals.

romccoy, check out this motel:
http://www.beachdirectory.com/seastarmotel/
The Indian Rocks Beach area is great, and I haven't stayed in a bad place there. I am not familiar with this place, but if all you need is clean and affordable, it might fit the bill. If you book for a week, it's $50 per day. This motel has the "Superior Small Lodging" seal of approval, and that's a very good thing. I've stayed in a few places that belong to SSL, and all were very clean, whether they ranged from simple to fancy.
Good luck, and use lots of sunscreen on those little ones!
