T-Mobile service

After a lot of reading, I am thinking of changing from Verizon nationwide service (which I have been happy with) to T-Mobile--so that I can use their service in Europe. But I am concerned about their nationwide coverage. Any comments about T-Mobile service in the US?

I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile several months ago. If one spends alot of time in rural areas out in the sticks, then I think clearly that Verizon has by far the best coverage. I have a bit of a problem from time to time with T-mobile coverage, but it is rare, and not that bad. The T-Mobile works great to and from Europe. Coverage and reception is great. However, the international roaming charges vary from $.99 per minute in most of Europe to as much as $4.99 perh minute in Russia. So, you will want to keep call as short as possible.

I agree with Firstmate. T mobile is a good cheap service, but once I'm out of the city area, I have very little to no coverage. Driving from Austin to Houston, I don't have any coverage almost the whole trip.

DH and I drove from Austin to Colorado (Durango area) last summer. Had coverage about 10% of the time.

I think you can go to their website and click on their coverage maps.

Thanks, Firstmate and Austin.
Austin--I looked at the coverage map and it sure looks like Austin to Houston is covered. Looks can be deceiving!! I live in Corpus Christi and drive to College Station frequently, so your experience is what I needed to hear. Any others out there?

I have t-mobile and spend 3-4 months a year in Europe and Asia. If you do switch, make sure you get a world phone as most U.S. GSM phones will not work in the world.

The .99 per minute is steep. I usually get a local Sim card in the country I'n visiting. I'm able to forward calls to my home phone to the foreign Sim cards number for 8-35 cents a minute.
