Sweet 16 party at the beach in NJ

I am helping a friend think up ideas for a sweet 16 party next year for her daughter. Does anyone have any information or experience with having one at a beach location in NJ somewhere? Is this even allowed?

They do not live in one of the beach towns but do live in NJ

Any information or direction would be most helpful

I would not plan a party like that on the beach.

The possible problems are endless. I'll give you a partial list:

1. Barbecuing is not allowed other than on holidays.

2. Alcohol isn't allowed, even for adults.

3. The weather, although usually nice, could be bad.

4. The seagulls will be impossible to stop - although the other beachgoers will love the entertainment as
they attack your food.

What I would do is rent a beachfront house with a pool. That way, the food can be kept mostly inside and the guests can go down to the beach whenever they want. And if the weather is bad you can move the party indoors.

There are many beachfront homes in Atlantic City, Ventnor, Margate, Longport, Ocean City and elsewhere that are available for rent. They won't be cheap but what a place for a sweet-16 party!

There is a list of Realtors on MyJerseyShore.com that I'm sure can find a great house for the party.

Don't forget to add the price of beach tags to your budget (another NJ disgrace).

Can't help with NJ beaches, but another idea, related ot water and beach. We live in Boston and did our dtr's sweet 16 party on a small boat that we rented for the evening - it took some real searching to find such a boat and captain, but when we did it was not overly expensive.

They let us bring our own food, charged us per person for sodas. A real advantage to any other type of partyy is that it is a confined environment - short of jumping overboard or swimming to boat, you know where everyone is, they are not leaving and re-arriving with alcohol or worse. We had parents pick up and drop off at pier - offered names/phone/email for carpooling. Since we live about 30 minutes outside of Boston and party was 3 hours, some parents chose to stay in Boston, have dinner, retrieve their kids.
