I haven't personally stayed there but I know people who have and they loved it. As far as I know it is a beachfront hotel. I have stayed at the Ritz-Carltonn in Laguna Niguel and I can assure you that the Ritz is outstanding and could be another choice for you. Hope this helps.

The Surf & Sand is ON Main Beach at Laguna. I haven't stayed there myself, because I live so close, but friends who have tell me it's outstanding in every way and very expensive. It's in an old building. The Ritz, by comparision is very new. Depends what you like. I'd choose the Surf & Sand. Have fun!

Hi! I HAVE stayed there! It's gorgeous! Our room overlooked the beach and ocean (8th floor), and we slept with the balcony doors open to the sound of the waves crashing into the beach at night. The rooms are beautiful, and they have some very good restaurants on premesis. There is a saltwater swimming pool. It IS as right-on-the-beach as it could be. It seems that I remember ALL the rooms overlooking the ocean, but you would have to ask. You must have a room that overlooks the beach/ocean to make it worth it. There are no walkout beach front rooms, and we would actually pick a room up high again because the views of the ocean are terrific, and even on the 8th floor the sound of the waves was exceptional. I would go back in a second if I was visiting CA again and could afford it again! I've stayed at quite a few AAA 4 diamond hotels, and I still pick Surf & Sand as one of my top 3 favorite hotels.
