Sunday Brunch in New Orleans?

We are spending the weekend in New Orleans in March and want to go to a great Sunday brunch. Got any sugestions? Also we are staying at the Omni. What do you know about it? Got any suggestions on where to go in New Orleans for great food?

Commander's Palace is the classic place for brunch. The food itself is an experience. Some people think it's overrated and over priced - I say go and find out for yourself. An out-of-the-way brunch place is Feelings Cafe in the Marigny - in the 2600 block of Chartres ($5 cab ride). It's a quiet little funky place with a totally different atmostphere than Commander's - and not nearly as expensive. AVOID Court of Two Sisters at all costs. Hope you have a great trip.

Many people also go to Brennan's for breakfast (on Royal Street, I think). we felt it was overrated, but it is a popular and famous spot for brunch.

For some great meals, I highly recommend the following restaurants, all fairly expensive and all in the French Quarter: Nola (owned by Emeril Lagasse), Peristyle and Bayona. I also like the Red Fish Grill in the French Quarter for a fun, casual meal and I also recommend La Crepe Nanou in the Garden District. Great food for a great price, but get there early b/c they don't take reservations! I have had the best meals in my life in New Orleans! Enjoy!

My husband and I have been going to New Orleans for decades and have never failed to eat at least one meal at Commander's Palace while we were there. Their Sunday jazz brunch is one of the most delightful dining experiences you can have. Ask for a table in the Garden Room by the window! And by all means, call for reservations NOW!! It's altogether possible they're already booked.

lynda, let the good times roll ! we had a great jazz brunch at le meridian on canal...also, not really a brunch but had some good breakfasts at petunia's in the FQ...bayona and brennan's were good but a bit too expensive for what you get. nola was excellent altough of seen diff posted here...another hole in the wall for great food (po boys and jambalaya and a good big inexpensive breakfast) is mother's, behind the doubletree in the business district.
we also had good luck w/ a new orleans oldie, tujaques, on decatur across from cafe dumond. as i've told other people going to da big easy, one of the best meals was a full muffeletta from the central grocery on decatur, beverage of your choice and walk over to the moonwalk/riverwalk park and eat it along the banks of the mississippi while the ships float by...usually somebody playing music there, too...
mahalo, kal

Hi,
I am travelling to New Orleans's French Quarter for a convention this coming April, and I'm really interested in authentic, cheap great Cajun or Creole food. I don't care if its Mom and Pop's store. I am also interested in checking out if there's any contemporary jazz clubs around that area.I know there's a lot of New Orleans Jazz around, but I'm more interested in modern jazz.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.
