Sunday brunch in Manhatten

My husband and I will be in Ct. with our 13 year old daughter for a long weekend, and we are going to surprize her with a train trip into Manhatten on Sunday. This will be her first visit. We'd like to take her out for a memorable lunch after seeing some sights. Any suggestions?
Many thanks!
Lori

tavern on the green if you dont mind the expense; if she like 50s, ellens stardust cafe is fun with singign waiters; the boathouse cafe on the central pk lake is nice but pricey; if its a nice day, an outdoor cafe on columbus avenue between 68 & 80th---people watching fun.

U R welcome! I live in NY & have a 13yo myself. If you wnat any more info, let me know. I bet she would love the wild thing ride run by circle lines--its a high speed motor boat --big--that plays rock and goes out near statue of liberty. U get wet and laugh a lot.

Have brunch in either Soho or the Village and spend the day sightseeing and shopping. There are many fun shops and stores and great people watching! Try Balthazar, Zoe's, or The Cupping Room Cafe(all in Soho)for a lovely brunch. Or you could go to Grange Hall, Anglers and Writers, Miracle Grill, or Grove all in the Village. Also, Tartine is one of my favorites in the Village(tiny but so delicious and inexpensive, although there WILL be a line. If you do eat in the Village, you must head over to Magnolia Bakery for the most fantastic cupcakes on the planet! Email me if you have any questions!

Could someone please refresh my memory about the name of a place that serves brunch near the library and a small park? If you can figure out what I'm referring to, is it good?

Forgetful,
You are probably referring to the Bryant Park Grill/Cafe. IT is located behind the NY Public Library on 5th Ave., and it overlooks the park by the same name.
