Summer in Michigan

We are planning a trip to Traverse Michigan or around there this coming summer. Where is the best place to stay? Love the water but any great scenery would be good.

I like the little communites like Leland in the Leelanau Peninsula.

Check out The Homestead in Glen Arbor. This is a great location although a bit northeast of Traverse City which tends to be touristy IMO.
