Suggestions for Sonoma/Napa Wineries and Tasting Rooms

I wanted to get some opinions on favorite wineries and tasting rooms in Napa and Sonoma. My wife and I are staying in Napa next Saturday night then the following three nights at the in Sonoma. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

V. Sattui=tour bus nightmare.
dstrawhorn-do a search, there are about a zillion posts. What varietals do you enjoy ? Or just red or white or both ?

My current favorites, most around Healdsburg:
Thumbprint
Lambert Bridge
Armida
Nalle
A. Rafanelli (needs appointment)
Roshambo
Gary Farrell
Rochioli

Also, LLindaC did a fabulous trip report
not to many months ago-(I like to tease her that she's one of us locals.)

Put her name in the search box and you'll pull it up. She visited some of the higher quality-small production
vintners.

Where are you staying in Sonoma county ? Do you know about the Hwy 101 construction ?

I like most varieties. This is our first time in the Wine Country and just wanted to get some good tips from those who know. While in Sonoma, we're staying at the Inn at Sonoma. No, I haven't heard about the construction. Where is it?

Ah, you will be in the town of Sonoma.
Easy enough to get around Sonoma Valley/Valley of the Moon and Kenwood.

Most of the construction is in Santa Rosa, from the junction of Hwy 12/101
to the North for the next 4 exits.
They are adding lanes to the freeway,
which is elevated, and they close existing lanes at odd hours.

You don't want to miss the Russian River area and Healdsburg-so avoid
this area of 101 during commute hours.
Get a good map when you get here
and you will be able to find alternatives if need be. The Compass brand maps have an excellent map showing winery locations so you can plan your stops. Look for them at
local Longs Drugs or Large chain grocery stores.

While in Sonoma, do try a meal at
Carneros Bistro, Meritage, Cafe la Haye
or Harvest Moon.

Wineries in the Sonoma Valley:
Benzinger (has a tram tour that is informative and fun-
Oh, and lunch at the Glen Ellen Inn would be yummy).
Mayo
Valley of the Moon
Cline
Ravenswood
Gundlach Bundschu
Buena Vista

So many wines, so little time. Do enjoy
your trip here-ask lots of questions !
