There are so many great area's of the lower cape to visit- I am not sure what town you are staying in or what you are looking for but I will list a few of our favorites- Chatham is very nice and downtown has great shops and nice places to eat- the Squire has great seafood and chowder- always crowded though so go early. Or..very fancy Chatham Bars Inn is loveley. Brewster Fish House is popular but again go early. One of our favorites for breakfast is Bonatt's Bakery and Restaurant in downtown Harwichport it has the best breakfast and we go often -it is hidden behind a bookstore on Main Street. I would suggest you buy a copy of Cape Cod Life magazine I am sure any large bookstore could get it for you or will have it in stock- it has great listings and ad's of places to go - most are usually very nice. Clancy's in Dennis is also good- not really lower cape but close. Brewster and Orleans are also very pretty towns. A drive out to Nauset Beach and National Seashore is very pretty. The list could go on and on - hope this helps- post a message if you need more specific info. Good Luck and Enjoy!

If you have a full week there, you have enough time to devote one day to Nantucket via the ferry from Hyannis. Leave the car on the Cape (if you plan to park at the ferry, I'm guessing the lot fills very early) and explore, enjoy on foot. You'll never forget it.

Heritage Plantation in Sandwich is a nice way to spend a few hours. There are antique cars, historical displays in several buildings, and an antique carousel - I believe it is one of the oldest operating carousels in existence. It is a nice walk about the grounds.
It is also nice to walk on the National Seashore - Marconi Staion is a great spot - or the Audobon Refuge just north of Orleans. If you have a vehicle they are all easy drives.

Just want to clarify that the "Lower Cape" is considered Brewster, Harwich, Chatham and Orleans. That said I think stopping in Sandwich on your way to your destination or on your way home is a great idea yet once you have arrived on the Lower Cape you will be sitting in traffic and spending lots of time in your car to head back towards the bridge. Nantucket is a great day trip but you do not need to drive to Hyannis to catch a ferry boat. There is a ferry service right out of Harwichport so you can avoid traffic and parking- you can't bring your car which is very expensive to do anyway and is discouraged but you can bring you bikes which is a great way to see Nantucket. The ferry runs out of Saquatucket Harbor on Rt. 28 their phone number is 508-432-8999 and you do need reservations. I just looked it up in my Cape Cod guide. There is a nice gourmet grocery store across the street called Thompsons Market that you can get coffe, lunch etc. at. We love this part of the cape and hope that you do to!
