Suggestions for 50th Wedding Anniversary dinner in San Diego

Hi all! We are all flying to San Diego to celebrate my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and I am looking for restaurant suggestions. I was thinking of the Hotel Del Coronado, but are there any other special places we should consider? Thanks!

Ruth, how many of you are there? You could try the Rancho Bernardo Inn (inland in N. San Diego), Bertrand's at Mr. A's (fabulous views of downtown), the Marine Room (next to the ocean in La Jolla).

Haven't been to Hotel Del, sounds like that would be very nice. Another suggestion, check out the Marine Room, Top of the Cove or George's all in La Jolla.

all the above suggestions are good. hotel del is definitly fancy but personally, i think their prices are ridiculous.
one of my favourites although it might not be fancy enough for a 50th is "tom ham's lighthouse" on either shelter or harbor island. whenever people come to visit i take them there and everyone has always had a great meal. has a nice view of downtown at sunset.
the crab catcher in la jolla was also nice. i'm sure if you explained the occassion they'd make sure you got one of the tables with the great view

Thanks for all your suggestions! Barbara, there will only be 6 of us, so no banquet facilities are necessary. Seafood is a big favorite. Thanks again for your help.

I'll second the Marine Room in LaJolla. Our dinners have always be wonderful, and the views can't be beat. The tide rolls up to the restaurant, and the sun sets into the ocean - beautiful. We had a dinner with about 20 people one time, and they had no problem with accomodating us.

Enjoy!

I agree - Marine Room! Check out the Hotel Del online. The restaurant at the La Valenica Hotel in La Jolla is also very nice. Have a great time!

Ruth, other posters have mentioned watching the sunset from the Marine Room. Keep in mind that the sun currently sets at 5pm. Still a really good restaurant though!

I think your choice should be El Bizcocho at Rancho Bernardo Inn. For my money (and you will spend quite a bit of your own there), it's the best restaurant in the San Diego area.

Ruth: I would suggest Anthony's Star of the Sea Room on the San Diego Bay. Beautiful location and fantastic food. Also the Sky Room on top of the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. Congratulations to the in-laws.
