Subway or El to Washington DC from Dulles?

Could somebody tell me if there is a subway or El that goes from Washington Dulles to DC? I'm flying in at 8:30 am and leaving 24 hours later so I want to go to the Holocaust Museum and the FDR museum. My husband's on a flight from Reagan at around the same time is there also an El for that?

National has a great Metro connection (two lines) but Dulles is far, far out in the sticks. You can catch a shuttle to Metro from Dulles.

BTW, don't even think about calling it an ``El'' in DC, half the folks won't know what you're asking.

There are several transportation options from Dulles to downtown DC. As Repete said, you can take a Washington Flyer to a metro stop in VA. You can take a super shuttle into DC or there is an express Metrobus that takes you to Rosslyn, VA or L'Enfant Plaza in DC. You can easily get the metro from either location. Check out http://www.mwaa.com/dulles/ground.htm for more details.

Dulles has the "Washington Flyer" that will take you to a Metro station (W Falls church?) on the Orange Line. Or as suggested, there are shuttles to bring you all the way to DC, and the 5A bus. L'Enfant Plaza station is on the Blue & Yellow lines (which both serve Reagan Airport) and the Orange Line. If you are carrying anymore than one bag, I doubt you'll like the 5A bus ($3), but I'd suggest you at least walk over to where it departs, and if you can get on it early and conveniently to your arrival at Dulles, then give it a try.

Are you both staying in the DC area? Or just making the best of layovers?
