Go to cheapovegas.com to read detailed description of all the hotels.
I haven't stayed there myself but I do know that it's the worst possible location.
If you can, try to find something on one of the two main corners. Las Vegas Blvd. & Tropicana or LVB & Flamingo. This is where most of the action is.

Contrary to the other posts, my wife and I spent three days at the Stratosphere in January and found it to be quite nice. We got a great deal thru the internet and paid $19 a night. The room was nice and their breakfast buffett was quite good. The Superstar Show is a bargain in Las Vegas and the look alikes were fabulous. We also ate dinner one night in the Top of the World revolving restaurant. It was very romantic and very expensive. The casino was large with plenty of nickel slots for us small time gamblers.
As far as being away from the rest of the strip, there is a shuttle that stops right in front of the hotel that will take you all the way down to the Luxor. Also, we never had a problem driving to the other resorts and using their free public parking garages. Hope this helped.
