Staying in Phoenix, need some recommendations!
My husband and I will be in Phoenix the beginning of March for a few spring training games. We are staying at the Pointe Hilton Resort Tapatio and will be attending games at Surprise Stadium and Peoria.
We would like to check out a few good restaurants and bars while there. Also are there any great places for shopping? Anything else that we should make time for in Phoenix?
Thanks!

Best shopping areas = Biltmore @ 24th and Camelback, Fashion Square @ Camelback and Scottsdale Rd, old town Scottsdale (around 5th Avenue and Scottsdale Rd), and Kierland Commons (Scottsdale Rd and Greenway).
Price range on restaurants? Cuisine?

stormygirl: A few of my favorite eating spots follow ( I agree w/ the shopping locals mentioned above ):
1) Vincent's on Camelback. Southwest w/ a french flare. My all-time favorite for a nice occasion. 602-224-0225 $$$$
2) Elements Restaurant at the Sanctuary.
Spectacular setting and wonderful food. Romantic atmosphere and innovative continental menu. Request a booth. Zen-like interior.
480-607-2300 $$$$
3) T-Cooks at The Royal Palms. Beautiful Southwestern atmosphere. Fireplaces inside and out - can wander the grounds w/ a cocktail and discover hidden spots to sit and enjoy a cozy fire. Food is very good - I rank #'s 1 & 2 as better but still, very good. On Camelback Road - almost to Scottsdale.
602-808-0766 $$$$
4) Lon's at the Hermosa. Again, just gorgeous inside. Southwestern interior with several intimate rooms. Outdoor dining patio ( same is true for #'s 2 & 3 above ) w/ heaters for the cool evenings. Very good food.602-955-7878
$$$$
5) Barrio Cafe on 16th Stree in Phoenix.
A favorite of mine also, a twist on the usual mexican food menu - very innovative and fresh. The guacamole is a MUST! Also try the mojo ( shrimp in garlic ). A bit cramped and busy on weekends - no reservations.
602-636-0240 $$ - $$$
6)Tarbell's. Nice interior. Good food.
602-955-8100 Camelback & 32nd St. $$$
7)Barmouche. Casual, lounge-like restaurant and bar. Camelback and 32nd St. 602-956-6900 $$- $$$
8) Zen 32 Fun spot for Sushi and a late drink. Camelback & 32nd St.
602-954-8700
9) The chain - Houston's. Always good @ Camelback & 24th St. AMC Theatres nearby. 957-9700
Obviously, there are many Scottsdale locations as well. This would be my Phoenix list. Hope it helps and enjoy your stay..........

Believe it or not but you absolutely can wear nice shorts.
Everybody attending Spring Training does...everywhere.
Bring couple of sun dresses if you want to. I do because I can be a girlie-girl at times...
You know the capri pant "rule"...do not put on if you have "put-on"...laugh!
Enjoy, this is the first year that I will not be going. Two of my girlfriend's are already there and two more are on the way.
You will know them way the way they dress...to kill!!!
At least two of them are going to snag a playa'...they always do!
Happy Packing,

You absolutely must go to the In 'n Out Burger...they have the best burgers in the county!! Ask for it "animal style" (not on menu) and you'll get grilled onions! We go there anytime we're in the Arizona or Nevada area. (we live in the midwest) Enjoy!

stormygirl, couple of places that I like that are very casual are Los Dos Molinos (very HOT Mexican and Greasewood Flats. Greasewood Flats is in Scottsdale just past the Four Seasons Hotel. It is just hamburgers and pork sandwiches, you sit outside on picnic benches, they have fire pits, country music and dancing. I am not a country music fan and I thought it was a lot of fun. I also like the Salt Cellar which is a seafood restaurant. It is usually pretty crowded so you would need to make reservations at least a few days early.
