Staying in Kaanalapi

Hi -

As some of you know - most of our honeymoon will be spent in Wailea in a condo. We are booking a few nights up in Kaanalapi at the Hyatt Maui - Friday to Sunday or Friday to Monday.

Do you think 2 nights is enough or should we stay in Kaanalapi for 3? We plan to do the luau while up there and possibly Warren and Annabelles. (Should we book W&A's months in advance?) We also want to do some shopping and ofcourse lounge by the pool! Are there other sights in the area? I know we can drive back from Wailea and I am sure we will - but I just wanted to get an idea of what there is to cover in the area.

Thanks!

It's really up tp you how many nights you want to stay up in Ka`anapali. How many days you want to spend by the pool? Since you are after pool lounging, I'd personally opt for three nights, only because it would give me two full days, but it's your preference.

It's not like you'll be limited to only the time you are staying there. It's a lovely drive if you want to go back up to Lahaina from Wailea. I do it all the time.

I'd also consider going up to Kapalua and Honolua, if not further around the West Muai Mountains, and to the I`ao Valley. There is something very magical about the I`ao valley. But this would take up one of your days at the pool, for which you are paying extra. If I were paying a premium to hang at the pool, I'd spend those days doing just that. You can always drive back on another day and this can be done as easily from Wailea as from Ka`anapali.

And, yes, you should book W&A in advance. We have had people come to visit us and not be able to do anything they had planned becasue they thought they could just show up that night. W&A was one of those activities they had to scratch?booked up in advance.

I agree with Here_today about the I'ao Valley being magical. It is one of my favorite places on Maui, and I hope you will visit there sometime during your visit..

If you are staying in Kaanapali for that resort experience, the pool, i.e., I'd give it a good couple of days, probably stay three nights Believe me, you will be happy wherever you are on Maui, though!;-)

I am new here and actually don't know the dates you will be there. My (soon to be) wife and I will be down there from May 16th through the 22nd and are staying at the Hyatt as well, and will be seeing Warren & Annabelle's as well!

Oh well...talk to you later,
