Staying at Makena Surf

Unit #B305. Has anyone stayed in this unit or at Makena Surf lately? Got a great deal through Maui Condiminium and Home Realty. This is the only Makena Surf unit they rent so if you stayed there and rented through them you stayed in "our" unit. We've seen pictures of other units on various websites (Ali'i Resorts has a virtual tour with shots of each unit they rent) but would like seeing B305 in particular.

Thanks, Ruth

Hi Unwinding, We stayed in B305 in nov 2004. We wre there for 10 days and then had to move out for a week because friends of the owners came in., After they left, we went back for another eight days. We can not tell you how much we loved this complex, condo, and location. We also rented though MCHR, and they were very helpful.
As good as it was, it is even better now. This falls into the REALLY small world department. My wife ran into a friend here in Whistler this summer who owns a B&B here. The owner of B305 has stayed here at her B&B and arranged with the owner( an interior designer) to have her go to Maui and redecorate B305, so as of this summer, it has been updated. It was great the way it was, and now it should be even nicer.
When we stayed there in Nov, it was very quiet, not many families, and the beach was not crowded at all. The pool is right outside of building B and so is the herb garden and fruit trees that you can help yourself to.
The rocky point just to the left of the beach is where all of the charter boats gather at "turtle town". Walk out your door, down the stairs, 100 yards to the beach, swim 200 yards to the point and you have great snorkeling with lots of fish and LOTS of turtles. Go early before the tour boats arrive, and while it is still calm.
There was at least one wedding a day on either end of the beach which makes for good people watching from the lanai.
The lanai is huge, with sliding doors from both the dining and living areas, and very private for all over tanning, and the sunsets are incredible.
I would get up every morning and run past the Maui Prince to Big Beach and back,or in the other direction, I would run to Polo Beach, and then along the beach path all the way to Grand Wailea. There was very little traffic at this end of the Island. The golf course is two minutes down the road, and so are all of the reorts, and Grand Wailea shops.
Sea Watch Restaurant is great for Breakfast and lunch, Joe's Grill at the tennis club has great early evening dinner speacials, and Sarento's is a must for sunset dining.
Kehei is 4 minutes by car for shopping, groceries,( sashimi grade ahi at Safeway was one of our dinner mainstays) and cheap internet.
As you can tell, I could go on and on. We are hoping to be back there in late November this year, unless you have taken our dates gt;(, and I would buy a condo in makena Surf in a minute , except they have jumped to close to 3 mil, over the past few years.Starting next year, our plan is to spend summers here in Whistler and winters on Maui.
I'd be happy to answer any other questions about South Maui. We are a foodie couple, 56,and 47. We rented a car, and spent a month touring the Island. Cheers, Al
