State park fee/best deal?
I have been reading about the fees for the state parks and was thinking about getting the $25 pass when I visit. There's a few waterfalls and such that I want to see, but if the lighthouses and such on the coast are also covered, the $25 pass sounds like it might be a good deal.
Does anyone know what is covered by the state park pass on the coast? Will the lighthouses be a separate fee anyway?

If you plan to visit the coast for more than a couple of days a pass may be a good way to go. There are state parks every few miles and most offer beautiful views. Many of the lighthouses are located in state parks, but not all. A good site would be Oregon Highways travel site ohwy.com
Go to the keyword search and click L. It gives a complete listing of the lighthouses and hours, etc. There are a couple of state parks in the gorge (where I assume you will be seeing waterfalls), but that area is under the National Forest fee system. Multnomah Falls is definitely free and I think most of the others on the Scenic Columbia River Highway are also free, but that may have changed recently. Those of us who have always had free access to all these places are not at all pleased with all the new fees, especially on the coast, but I guess they are here to stay. If this is your first and maybe only time to Oregon I know you will love seeing our scenic areas even if you have to pay.
