starrs - what a wonderful report - and the next question is: when are you coming back??? Have you ever been here for Open House NY? First weekend in October....and have you heard about all the new shows for next season? A Man For All Seasons, West Side Story, Billy Elliott, etc. Book your flight!!! Come on!

Hi Starrs!
I just came across your trip report...love it!
I'm so glad you got to the Divine Bar...I'm salivating just thinking about that crostini!
Also glad you got to see Boeing Boeing. I saw last night that Mark Rylance won the Tony.
Sorry to here the Foods of NY Greenwich Village II tour wasn't so good. As you know mom and I did their Chelsea Market tour when we were there in May and it was Fabulous. But the SATC tour sounds like a blast!

Awww, thanks, Andrew and CPG!
Well, my chariot STILL hasn't arrived from Atlanta to wisk me away from Newark, so I've signed back on the computer. It's gonna be REALLY late when I get home. It's going to be early tomorrow am
So, here's Monday!
Slept later than planned and saw just a bit of Matt Lauer's interview with Luke Russert - Tim's son. Tears pouring down my face. Another day with no makeup. I can't stand makeup when my face is going to be wet from tears or sweat. Pack up my stuff. Check my bags at the Hilton. Head off for the subway. Stop at Macy's and return a lot of what I bought. I don't need it and ... well, I just didn't need it. On down to Union Square. I LOVE wandering the greenmarket. Bought me a little round fofaccia bread topped with mushrooms and Vidalia onions (an homage to home). Laughed at the dogs at the dog park. Just happy to be in NYC.
Off to meet my bus for today's tour.

I LOVED this tour! One of my favorites ever - anywhere! Tony, the owner and the guide is great. The pizza was great. Seeing Brooklyn was great. Seeing clips of movies and the real "live" locations at the same time was great! Loved it, loved it, loved it.
It was a 4.5 hour tour, which was a perfect "last day" event. A great way to spend the last day in NY and the bus ride for most of the tour was a good choice for tired feet. I posted another thread about this tour, because I liked it so much. I highly recommend it. If you click on the link provided you can see last October's Today Show's segment on the tour.
We were safely returned to Union Square and I walked up Broadway to one of my favorite places -

(Here she goes again...shopping for dishes!
)
It's a quick visit and I grab a couple of things that were on sale - and back up a bit further on Broadway to catch a train.
Back to the Hilton, grab my bags, call Carmel to get an earlier pick-up. A few minutes later a beautiful town car with cream leather interior picks me up. It's 5:05 and I ask "how long"? He gives me an estimate - and then is shocked to see virtually no traffic getting off island. He's shaking his head - and I tell him it's me. I'm living under a lucky star lately. He agrees that must be the explanation
I arrive to the Newark airport very quickly - and I'm still here. The latest estimate is an 11:40 arrival of the plane coming from Atlanta to fetch me home. I waited too long to eat something (I was too stuffed from the pizzas this afternoon). By the time I signed off, everything was closed except the register outside TGIFriday's. So, "dinner" was Nacho Cheese Doritos, the remainder of the focaccio bread and grapefruit juice (for some semblance of nutrition!)
I WILL get home SOMEtime and I will get back up here sometime a WHOLE lot sooner than 4+ years.
4 Broadway shows
4 tours
4 traveling companions
Old friends
A wonderful GTG and the chance to meet more Fodorites.
It was a great trip. I do feel lucky!

Ah, the joys of travel.
The twice delayed flight took off at midnight. I fell asleep almost immediately.
I awoke to a "clunk" at 1:15am. An ipod on the floor - belongs to the girl in front of me. Back asleep.
Landed at 2am.
The train wasn't running. Had to walk from D concourse (I think that's over a mile).
At my car in the Parking Spot at 3 am. $8/ day (vs much more expensive on airport property). Driver was snoozing (as were all of them were) but very friendly and helpful with my bags.
Home by 4am. Greeted by hungry big dogs and horses. All are settled in. What a night!
Home safe and sound though. That's what matters

I just want to add one more thank you for a super trip report. You certainly covered a huge amount of ground.
I was especially interested to hear about your stay at the LaQuinta on W. 32nd Street. This hotel has been on my short list of "cheap" places to stay in NYC and your review has me convinced this will work for us on one of our last minute weekend trips to the city.
Glad to hear that you arrived safely home.

Bugswife- you should sign up on Facebook and join the Fodor's group. Yes, we play Scrabble, it's called Scrabulous and it's great fun. I've played with Starrs and Hershey and Cat and Freeman and Paytonsgrandma and Suki and Matniksym and carrybean and irecommend. Just join and start a game with me. You can invite any of the group listed above as I think they all enjoy the game.

. I felt as tho I was experiencing 'the New York Minute(s)' along with you. Thanx for sharing, I had a great time!!
