Tell us what kind of sightseeing you enjoy, whether you will have a car (recommended here) or not, what your basic budget type is, and what kind of cuisine you like and we’ll know better what to suggest. Your post is too vague.

Even more important is the question of whether you want to be at the beach or not. St. Pete Beach (its official name) or St. Petersburg?
At the beach, the Don Cesar is my favorite. (Don't know if it fits your budget, or even has availability.)
In St. Pete, I'd stay at the Birchwood or the Vinoy (see above caveats), for their location.
There are lots and lots of lodging choices in either location.
Re: restaurants, too many in St. Pete to recommend! Clarify where you want to be and what kind of dining you are looking for and I'll list a few.

Edge Hotel Clearwater Beach is @ $179 those nights including the $25 resort fee & $15 parking fee.
Pelican Pointe (nice large rooms) is a good bargain a $119 including parking.
Shor Seafood Grille is my dinner recommendation and be sure to hit Strachan's Ice Cream in Dunedin.
