St. Louis Cupples Station Westin Weekend Fabulous
Thanks to all the St. Louis posters who so wisely steered me toward this new Westin. The room was the most beautiful I've ever stayed in and I've been to places that were 5 times this price. There were so many esquiste features and the bathroom was beyond belief. All amber marbled walls and floors with marble surround tub and separate glass surround shower areas. Bedroom was like a suite with modern art deco furniture/ fixtures (and office/ desk area)with a huge platform "heavenly" bed with white duvet. We had the top floors 10 or 11 feet arched windows with a Busch stadium entry view and I can attest that St. Louis fans are numerous, early and all wear red. Besides being great baseball lovers, they happen to live in a beautiful town. I loved the Union Station, Old Courthouse and numerous new buildings. To the person who suggested the Drury Plaza, we happened to go into the foyer and saw the old western desert area and it is in a good location also. We could have spent at least two more days there and we will be back. I had terrific cocoanut shrimp with plum sauce at Landry's and the Cadillac margarita was superb. Next time I want to play hookey I think I am going to take Huck and Tom's example and head back down. THANKS!
Now that I have seen Mark McGuire hit two out in one night and Bonilla hit a grand slam- I feel that next time, they can be easier when my team visits. But for now I am glad that their hot streak is continuing.

Do you think the Westin owners are happy? The mayor of St. Louis just announced that the State of Missouri, St. Louis County and the city of St. Louis has just agreed on a deal to build a new stadium for the Cardinals with a ballpark village for a total price of over 600 million dollars. The location will be next to and part of the present Busch Stadium. If the state legislature, county council and the city board of alderman agree to this proposal, as the Governor of Missouri has signed on, I think you'll see more hotels like the Westin and Drury Plaza. Glad you had a great visit!!!!

Why have St. Louisians been so willing to dump all those tax dollars into the Savvis Center/TWA Dome and now a new baseball park? Taxpayers there (just like in many other cities with multiple pro sports teams) have been taken to the cleaners, and the only ones really making any money are the team owners and a smattering of local businesses?

glad you took the suggestion. I moved to St. louis three years ago and work blocks from the new Westing and it is amazing how much the city has improved and is improving over the last few years. the new Sheraton is also in a rehab building and is scheduled to open up next month. it should be awesome as well. come back again and visit when the rams are playing

Whatever they put into this location is not going to go wrong for anyone. The fans in St. Louis are such baseball lovers and so into the entire picture that there will be heavy profits for all investments made. There is a state tax and another tax (city or county, I think) that ran about $9.98 each for the room. This has got to be continued payback for everyone and not just the area around the park complex. This Westin is awesome and I didn't mind paying the extra taxes at all because the quality for the money was terrific.
Thanks again to all, Amy & Pete! I will be back for sure before another year goes by. I think I would like to drive down in Fall and see the new Basilica that we missed and also hit Cohakia Falls and the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on the way back. We had so much fun this time that we dallied too long in the city walking and at the zoo.
