St. Augustine Wedding
Hi All,
I am planning a wedding in St. Augustine for this October. We are looking for a fabulous beach house to rent and would like to host the rehearsal dinner at the house. If we can not find a house, any suggestions on a great alternative location? We are inviting everyone to the rehearsal (150 ppl) so we will need a place we can put up a tent or have lost of inside and porch space.
thanks,
Leslie

Do a google search for St. Augustine real estate companies and then call. I would explain what you are looking for to a rental agent and have them help you.
You will probably have to rent it for more than one night and I'd say two at a minimum.
Have you checked with area country clubs or museums? How about a nice B&B or resort?

Not to be a killjoy, but if I owned a "fabulous beach house" in St Augustine and heard someone was looking for a place to host a rehearsal dinner for 150 people, I'd slap a No Vacancy sign on it as fast as I could!
Maybe you could find a really neat venue someplace around the city instead? From your own perspective too, you are placing yourself in a pretty significant liability situation as far as damages go. I realize rehersal dinners are normally calm affairs, but 150 people anywhere creates problems. You would be astounded at some of the really dumb things peo;le do when they are not in their own place...

Thank you for the advice. We have looked into the House of Sea and Sun and the Lighthouse lawn in St. Aug. We actually can't even find an incredible beach house in St. Aug. Everything is sort of old or beat up. We had two family weddings in Charleston where we rented fabulous beach homes on the Isle of Palms and had both rehearsal dinners and receptions. I think it is pretty common in Charleston. We saw different wedding photos of other renters in the homes. So, I was surprised how difficult this was to find in St. Aug.
