We're going to take a long weekend in September and would like to stay at a property on the beach near St. Augustine.
I understand that some areas of the beach are rocky? Can you suggest the prettiest beach area near St. Augustine? We're good with a decent hotel or condo, and flexible with the area.

We didn't stay on the beach so I'm probably not much help. But we did go to the beach at Anastasia Island St. Park. It was near St. Augustine and was lovely. Maybe you can find something in that area.

It may not be the prettiest beach, but we like Crescent Beach, which is just south of Myrtle Beach. Very family oriented, quiet area. Crescent beach is more of a sandy beach. There are also condos in that area.

Are beaches aren't rocky like Maine beaches.

Can you explain how your were explained to that the beaches are rocky?

The south Atlantic beaches are hard packed sand and tan sand above the high tide lines.

I agree with tcapp - Crescent Beach is located just south of the intersection of State Road 206 and A1A. It is a beautiful, sandy and quiet beach. Beacher's Lodge <http://www.beacherslodge.com/> has oceanfront condos for nightly rentals. Because of the dunes be sure to ask for a 3rd or 4th floor unit to maximize the ocean view.

You will find no rocky beaches anywhere in Florida. In fact there is little if any rock in the whole state.

Maybe what tamtot means is that the beaches (sand on the beaches) in St. Augustine are hard as a rock.
