Spokane, Wash. - What to do? Where to eat?

Going to Spokane this weekend and staying 4 nights. Why? Husband and car buddies have rented racetrack for 2 days to drive their various big engined cars around in circles to their heart's content. Husband and I and another couple will be driving from Vancouver, BC to Spokane and arriving Saturday night.

So, we'll be there Sat., Sun., Mon. and Tues. nights. Track is rented for Mon. and Tues. We'll have Sunday to kick around (two couples) thinking of going to Coeur d'Alene (sp?) for the day.

However, would like to know of a couple of restaurants in Spokane that would be pleasant places to spend an evening after a long day sitting in a camp chair at the side of a stinking hot racetrack pretending I care.

Stayed at the Ridpath last year with husband and honestly can't remember where we ate ... uh oh. Something "Hill or Hills" comes to mind.

Anyway, if anyone knows Spokane and its good spots I'd love to know of them. Thanks in advance.

Spokane has some nice restaurants downtown within walking distance. Some of my favorites are: Clinkindaggers, Shananigans, Cucina,Cucina, Mizuna. There is a large downtown shopping center, called Riverpark Square. It has some nice stores, restaurants, and a cinema complex if you want to see a movie. Riverfront Park is a nice place for an after dinner stroll along the river. The Spokane State Fair starts today and if you like that sort of thing, it can be fun. Definitely take a drive to Coeur D'Alene, about 1 hour from Spokane. Just take I-90 east. Can't miss it. Enjoy a walk in town along the beach park, have dinner at the resort or one of the many restaurants there, do some shopping. Weather here is supposed to be just great all weekend, a bit cooler next week, but still nice. Hope you enjoy your visit.

Thanks for your information. I'm really hoping the weather will hold (it hasn't rained here in Vancouver, BC for well over a month).

I hope my friend and I can spend a day (probably Tuesday as we really should spend one day making like we care about the boys racing around the track on Monday) in downtown Spokane doing just the things you suggest.

Thanks again.

Yes. It's next door to the Ryne Sandberg museum.
