Spirit Airlines

Took Spirit from Las Vegas to Los Angeles the other night. Knew in advance they charge for carry on bags unless they fit under the seat. I packed light and traveled with bag that I have been putting under the seat for the last 20 years. When I got to the airport they have a box that measures your bag and mine was deemed too big and I was charged $50. When I got on the plane, of course the bag fit. I am outraged.

They came around with drinks. They charge for water and more for ice if you want it. I declined.

I wouldn't travel on Spirit Airlines again for any reason.

I wouldn't fly with them because they STARTED charging for carry-ons.

I wouldn't fly with them because I don't want to bust out a calculator and spend 10 minutes figuring out all the extra fees only to find out they're more expensive than Southwest.

I won't fly on Spirit because their so-called "$9 fares" end up being like $499 fares.

And that just dampens my SPIRIT

If you are just going from point A to point B - with a small carry-on - one that fits in their box - isn't it worth a very low price?

Appreciate their coming into SD to fly to Cabo - as Alaska Airlines has lowered their rates due to Spirit.

BTW - I had a similiar experience a few years ago - with Ryan Air in Ireland - flying from Shannon to London. You were only allowed 20 kilos (44 lbs)for your checked bag - but since I had accumulated a number of items along the way - the extra weight cost me a lot more than the bargain ticket.

It wasn't even a cheap ticket. It was the same as Southwest
