Spend 3 days in Boston or 3 extra days in NYC
Hi,
We are travelling to the US from Australia for 2 weeks in October.
We are spending the first 5 days in NYC with friends and are then hiring a car and have B&B's booked in the New England region for four days.
My question is should we then spend 3 days in Boston, or skip it and head back to NYC for the remaining five days before we head back to Australia?

Mel,
Boston is absolutely beautiful in October and there is so much to do there. If you are a history buff at all you will really enjoy Boston. There are wonderful historic tours and great museums. PLUS it's a great theater town, great restaurant town and great drinking town! I hate to sound like a commercial but I think Boston has it all. My favorite hotel is the Colonnade.
Whatever you decide, have fun. You really can't go wrong in NYC or Boston.

Since you'll already have had a good opportunity to see NYC go to Boston. It is a wonderful city with a completely different feeling than New York. If you like antiques be sure and visit Charles Street-lots of great shops and very picturesque. The Gardner Museum is also a wonderful place to visit-beautiful art collection in a gorgeous home.

Mel,
Definitely see Boston. New England is unbelievably gorgeous in October. I for one would have my fill of NYC in 5 days.
Boston alternatives and day trips abound also. There's also Cape Cod, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Block Island.
Have a fantastic trip!
