All very good points - thanks. I have learned to send them to the grocery by themselves before we leave because I'm an apples and carrot sticks mom. There were a number of years when they wanted dirt cake for birthday cakes - I would cringe as I waited in the checkout line with cool whip, oreos, and instant pudding!

Our then 18-year-old spent most of our California vacation two years ago texting - but I figured it did keep him from arguing with his younger brother!

I know one thing they are going to go for - barbecue! Yum!
