South Lake Tahoe

I'm getting married in South Lake Tahoe (November) and I'm looking for a restaurant to take my family to after the wedding. Any suggestions? Also, we are staying in Reno, how long of a drive is it to South Lake Tahoe, CA? thanks!!

The top of Harvey's Hotel is the best
restaurant. It is top of the line food
and service with a great view. I can't
remember the name - but give the hotel
a call. You will love it.

There are many great restaurants in South Lake Tahoe. Recommendations depend on how large is your group and how much money do you want to spend per person?

Roughly an hour (traffic/day of week/time of day depending) from Reno via US 395 S. to Carson City then up and over Spooner Summit on Hwy 50 W. into Stateline. Good luck with your impending wedding.

Diane,

There is a restaurant called Jake's that is fabulous. They have a San Diego location that is awesome as well. Don't mess with the casinos unless you are staying in one. Reno is about 20-30 minutes. Take the gondola ride to the top of Squaw Valley, well worth the 10 bucks or so. Good luck.

I've driven that route (Reno to S Lk Tahoe) and it took me about an hour, as I recall--I think it's about 50-60 miles, and they aren't straight flat highway.

I think Jim meant to say take the gondola to the top of Heavenly Valley. It really does have a magnificent view of the Lake and not a bad restaurant either. (Squaw Valley is at North Lake Tahoe, and while offering fantastic skiing, doesn't have the views that Heavenly does.)
