South Bend - Resturants

Heading to a football game at Notre Dame in November. Any recommendations for resturants appreciated. Will have children with us, so places that are "child-friendly" but not necessarily the chain stuff. Thanks.

If you like pizza, Barnaby's is famous in South Bend for a really thin crust cheesy pizza. We adore dthe place when in school at ND and still visit when we return for ballgames from Chicago suburbs. P.S. we are going tomorrow!!!!

Macri's Deli - my favorite sandwiches in the world - kid friendly, extensive menu, and beer. It was my favorite restaurant in law school. (Of course, I was broke, but I still go when I'm in for games) The only sandwiches which come close here in Chicago are at Potbelly. Have fun and Go Irish!

i grew up in that area. a fun mexican place is the Hacienda in Mishawaka. can have long waits though. macree's is good, i'll 2nd that option.
a fun, casual, family-style italian place is papa vino's & it's close to the stadium. technically it's a chain, but there are only 5. it's similar to maggiano's, but more casual & family-friendly. food's not quite as good, but it's a good value.

Tippecanoe Place has a great and inexpensive brunch. It's in the old Studebaker mansion about 10 min drive from campus.

Thanks Ellen for the brunch suggestion at Tippecanoe. I just called to make ressies. Seems like it's going to be a perfect place. You're right it is inexpensive...$12.95 per adult and less for children!
