South Beach restaurants

Hi, We'll be in Miami next week at Doral for a conference. I have 2 nites to eat in and around South Beach. Any recommendations. We like most types of food. Upscale restaurants are great.
btw, how far is it from Doral to South Beach?
Thanks.
Frank

I had a great meal at Balan on Lincoln Road. Service was perfect as was the food. I had a Thai Salad with a steak with some kind of mashed potato. I can't wait until November when we go down again just so I can go back to this restaurant. Also, have eaten at Mezzaluna, Casablanca, Lario's, News Cafe on Ocean Drive. All great food and service. Enjoy the trip!

I can vouch for Lario's on Ocean Drive. We stayed at the Delano and the concierge recommended Lario's and we were very happy he did. Excellent Cuban food, fun setting. Try to sit outside along the sidewalk.

On Lincoln Road, Dorakyu and Sushi Samba are two notable sushi places. Dorakyu is far down Lincoln (beyond Banana Republic, almost at Alton Rd.). Sushi Sambe is closer to the Collins Blvd end of Lincoln Rd.

Forgot about News Cafe. We had breakfast there and thought it was good. I am not sure about dinner, though. I've seen some mediocre reviews. In any event, Lario's is right next door. Enjoy!

I almost forgot one......

Grillfish on Collins.

Again, outstanding filet mignon and great service. Nice wine list, too.

Do you know if this is the same Grillfish that's in Boston?

Sorry - I haven't a clue on the relation to the one in Boston.

I would definitely have to second Lario's. Great Cuban food with a live band at night.

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate it. Are reservations needed at many of these restaurants, and does anyone know how far (roughly) they are from Doral??
Thanks again.
