South Beach or Miami Beach - where to stay?

I've never been to Miami and am just wondering which area to stay in. I am looking for a nice beach area, great food and clean, moderate accomadations. Thanks.

I'm a little confused by the question. You are aware that South Beach IS Miami Beach, aren't you? It is simply the southern end of Miami Beach. To me the ideal place to stay is right at the north end of South Beach, around Lincoln Road area. Loew's is right there, but may not fit your definition of moderate. Moving south further will gain you a choice of more moderately priced hotels and put you even more into the "action". Sorry I don't have a specific suggestion, but there have been a ton of posts here about specific hotels in South Beach. Try a search on here for South Beach hotels and see what descriptions you find.

Look at the Roney Palace, near South Beach, Lincoln Road, etc. Beautiful hotel, great location. Do a check on google.com by putting in a search for Roney Palace to see who is offering rates on that hotel.
